Living According to the Commandments

The way to happiness is actually quite simple. God has given us commandments, and these may change according to our circumstances (but always following basic principles), and it's our job to keep these commandments. If we do, we will be happy. That's the main message of 2 Nephi 1, what Lehi tells his sons.

Here's verse 7:

And if it so be that they shall serve him according to thecommandments which he hath given, it shall be a land of ^blibertyunto them

Here's verse 9:

9 Wherefore, I, Lehi, have obtained a ^apromise, that ^binasmuch asthose whom the Lord God shall bring out of the land of Jerusalemshall keep his commandments, they shall ^cprosper upon the face ofthis land; and they shall be kept from all other nations, that theymay possess this land unto themselves. And if it so be that theyshall ^dkeep his commandments they shall be blessed upon the faceof this land, and there shall be none to molest them, nor to takeaway the land of their ^einheritance; and they shall dwell safelyforever.
